Tersch Friedrich, rytíř [ Notable personality ]
(born March 30, 1836 in Šumperk, died December 14, 1915 in Šumperk), regional member of parliament for the counties of Šumperk, Staré Město, Zábřeh and Štíty, mayor of the city in 1882-1907, Knight of Franz Joseph Order. During Tersch’s mayoralty Šumperk experienced unprecedented development. He was designated honorary citizen of the city of Šumperk on March 15, 1906. In 1907, after laying down his mayor function, he was awarded the title of "Altbürgermeister” (old mayor) and his portrait was placed in the mayor’s office. At the same time, the upper part of the present-day Starobranská ulice, where he lived in house No. 5, was named after him. Friedrich Tersch was buried on December 17, 1915 in the Šumperk graveyard in his family tomb. A tombstone in his honour was built in the area of the honorary burial ground.
