The Virgin Mary's Column [ Statue, sculptural group or sculpture ]

A Baroque sculpture of the Virgin Mary - Immaculata - dating from the 3rd quarter of the 18th century. The sculpture is situated in the T. G. Masaryk Square. Since 1785, the column had used to stand at the town hall on the place of the town pillory. The below life-sized and dynamically displayed figure of the Virgin Mary stands, sigmoidally bent and dressed in a rich-pleated, waving clothes, on the Earth globe twisted around with a snake body. The Mary's hands are clasped to pray and her gaze is settled on the sky. On the column sides, adoring cherubs kneel on low bevelled-edge pillars.
