Ruin Střekov [ Castle or ruin of castle ]
Castle dating to the first half of the 14th century, built to guard the river route down the Labe (Elbe) and to collect tolls. A major reconstruction took place at the turn of the 16th century, when Renaissance renovations were undertaken.
During the Thirty Years´ War it was taken and fired. Wars in the 18th and 19th centuries led to further calanities, as the castle taken by the Imperial, Saxon and Swedish armies, and later by Croat, Prussian and Austrian forces.
